Nissan GT-R Bike Polo by Intersection Magazine
REPORTED BY Yorgo Tloupas, 1, October 2012

Hardcourt Bike Polo is a team sport, and as with every team sport, it requires team transportation. Luckily we’re only three in a team, so our choice of vehicles isn’t limited to buses. So when my team, Les Chacals, decided to go to the 2012 World Championships in Geneva, I thought that we needed a proper mode of transport. Nissan France were generous enough to lend me a GT-R, and not just any GT-R… Carlos Ghosn‘s ex-personal car!

But finding a way to carry our 3 polo bikes quickly became a challenge, and for weeks I struggled to find a solution, until my friend and GT-R owner Mai Ikuzawa suggested I buy a Saris Bones 3, which turned out to be perfect.

Needless to say the car drew more than a few looks at gas station stops, amongst the tourists transporting their bikes with similar devices, but on much less aggressive cars… The Polo world, not known for its love of cars, was bewildered, and our team T-shirts were a hit, selling faster than Dale Earnhardt Jr. hats at the Daytona 500.

And of course after the tournament, I drove down to Greece as every summer, and turned the GT-R into a surf van:
